Metana offers self-paced, online bootcamps covering Solidity (24 weeks) and Rust (24 weeks). The bootcamps are project-based and students will finish the course with a portfolio to show to potential employers. Metana holds office hours throughout the week and students can receive support from industry professional instructors.
The Solidity bootcamp covers topics like Solidity, DeFi, smart contracts, wallets, Ethereum, NFTs, OpenSea, staking, gas and gas fees, zero-knowledge proofs, and layer 2. The bootcamp is development-heavy to give students enough experience to make them job-ready.
The Rust bootcamp covers topics like Rust, dapps, smart contracts, DeFi, GraphQL, and the Anchor framework. Students will complete a group project during the program to demonstrate the skills they learned throughout the bootcamp.
Metana is designed to help developers transition from Web2 to Web3, and the bootcamps are highly competitive with a rejection rate of almost 70%. Applicants should have 1-2 years of experience in the industry with knowledge in JavaScript, Python, Git, and Github. To begin the application process, submit an application with information about past engineering experience. Applicants will complete a short Web2 aptitude test before receiving a decision.

Most of the course content is just a consolidation of public material from websites/documentation/youtube but in a way that's a testament to Metana's no-fluff way of transferring useful knowledge to their students. The projects are plenty challenging with good ability to show off to recruiters through Github. Coming to the mentor/instructor Jeff and the course, he comes off as jovial and enthusiastic in the classes. I like that he forces us to arrive at the answer than just spoon feed us. He makes learning fun, I think this forms a good basis to ensure our learning is sustained. The course is structured from the first principles like all the way from understanding how bitcoin works to the workings of Ethereum. It can seem a little fast paced in the beginning but it gets easier if we are consistent. Even the folks who join the boot camp seem like an interesting bunch. Almost every weekly meeting, a fellow boot camper shares something insightful and this excites me. It's actually not about web3/web2/shiny tech, it's about good people and I think Metana is run by good people.
