I'm in the process of switching from a teaching career to design, and I appreciated how Designlab Foundations made it easy to dip my toe into UX/UI and see if this new career path would be a realistic and enjoyable change. Most other bootcamps require more time and financial commitment before you are able to get a sense of the type of work you will be doing, but the Foundations course was a very manageable first step! I really enjoyed the asynchronous aspect of the course. Initially I was concerned that not having an assigned class time would make it harder to complete the course, but it was great to be able to move as quickly or slowly through a unit as I wanted. Additionally, the mentor system was great too, since it meant I had dedicated 1-on-1 time to ask all the questions I wanted, no matter how repetitive they might be to other students. As a side note, I have a young child at home, I am currently pregnant, and I work during the day, so the way this course was set up was perfect for a busy lifestyle where I struggle to have traditional blocks of time free during most "class" times. I recommend this course to get a sense of the field and build your design skills, especially if you are uncertain about jumping into the deep end immediately.- AnonymousGraduate • 1. Excellent bootcamp for those starting a UX/UI career
The Designlab Foundations course is a 101-type program that sets you up very nicely for the more intense UX Academy course. You are taught mostly UI elements (i.e. design principles) in a way that is easy to understand through a mix of learning modules and projects. Being matched with a mentor who, in my experience, was extremely knowledgeable in the subject with lots of industry experience, was extremely helpful. Overall, worth the investment
I came out with a base knowledge of UI design and was able to apply that knowledge in projects and examples. I was occasionally frustrated with not diving into a particular concept or application deep enough to mastery before moving on, but in the end I did figure it out. Great experience at Designlab
The Foundations course was great. I learned a lot of the foundational skills I will need when transitioning into UX/product design. Best bootcamp experience
After doing a software engineering bootcamp and feeling stuck creatively, I decided to go the design route and Designlab's foundations course did not disappoint. It is most definitely a LOT of work, but I was able to complete it all in 3 weeks. Joining UXAF course has been my best decision.
UXAF course is a very well structured, practical and informative. I researched extensively, compared the courses from many institutes and decided to go with UXAF. The course comprises of all the aspects required to gain design knowledge. It includes information, practical work (projects), time management, using designing tools extensively and 1:1 mentorship which is extremely helpful in achieving great results. Amazing mentoring above standards
I started designlab because I wanted to get into designing and learning the difference between UX and UI. I wanted to break into the tech industry for awhile now and designlab was the one that I felt was right for me after doing research on different tech jobs. I took a risk and started foundations to see if I'd like it. Turns out I really enjoyed all the projects and I felt proud of all the work I did so far. Rewarding Experience
Designlab Academy Foundations was just the right course for me to learn the basics of visual design. I loved that everything was broken down into weekly sessions and it allowed me to follow strict deadlines as I did not have the discipline to be self-taught. The coursework was easy to follow, but the reading material could be long and daunting sometimes.
